Bar code labels
Bar Code Labels are used to identify backups at either the tape or the container level.  Each serves as a unique identifier and is used for tracking all movement.  Accompanying each submission to your off-site program will be an inventory submittal form detailing the description of each back up and the appropriate return date.  Your DATASAFE courier will review the form to make certain that the correct quantity and appropriate bar code labels are listed.  Finally, we sign as received and leave behind a receipt.
Transporting your data
Your critical data is transported in unmarked, climate-controlled vans.  Only media specific containers are utilized for transport and storage.  DATASAFE provides all containers
.
Identifying and storing your data
Upon return to DATASAFE our vault staff scans bar code identifiers.  This initial scan documents arrival at DATASAFE and updates the movement history.  Within minutes each tape or container is scanned to a location within the vault.  This updates the location of your newest backups in our facility.
Updating our vault management software
Finally, the specifics provided by the inventory submittal form are entered into VaultWare, our vault management software.
Inventory reports
Inventory Reports are available in various formats.  This is essential when monitoring your organization's adherence to an off-site policy or retention schedule.  This is perhaps most valuable when used to evaluate your program.  Data is at your fingertips to control costs by identifying media no longer required off-site to meet disaster recovery or regulatory archival retention periods.
For DATASAFE customers with larger, multiple platform off-site programs, we offer PC based software to link you to us via modem.  This user friendly software provides expanded inventory detail.  Additional features include direct modem ordering, custom reports and e-mail access to DATASAFE.
Immediate access to your critical data is a key feature of DATASAFE services.  Your critical data is available to authorized staff 24 hours per day, 365 days per year
